Corporate Christmas pen gifts: a buyer's guide for businesses
Every autumn the same question lands on someone's desk: what do we give clients and staff this year? It has to look considered, arrive on time and be easy to sign off. An engraved pen covers all three. It is used every day, it carries a name or a logo without shouting about it, and one order can cover a whole team. This guide walks through how a business order works with us, from choosing the pen to the invoice, so you can plan it properly.
Why a pen works as a business gift
Most corporate gifts are eaten, drunk or put in a drawer. A good pen gets picked up at the next meeting. Engraving turns it from a generic present into something that belongs to one person: their name on the barrel, or your firm's logo, or both. It is also a gift that suits almost anyone, whatever their age, role or taste, which matters when you are buying for fifty people rather than five.
Pens are also practical to organise. They are small, they post easily to any UK address, and a single design can be repeated across every recipient while still carrying each person's own name.
Choosing the pen
We engrave genuine pens, bought from the brands or their authorised UK distributors. For business orders most people choose from the Parker range:
- Parker Jotter (£12.95 engraved): the classic click ballpoint, in production since 1954 and available in eight finishes. A sensible choice for larger staff gifts, events and welcome packs.
- Parker IM (from about £25): heavier and more formal. A good middle ground for client thank-yous.
- Parker Sonnet (from about £70): the one for senior clients, partners, retirements and long-service awards.
Many businesses split an order: Jotters for the wider team and a handful of Sonnets for key clients. If you are unsure whether a ballpoint, rollerball or fountain pen suits the people you are buying for, our guide to ballpoint, rollerball or fountain pens sets out the differences.
Logo, names, or both
There are three common approaches:
- Your logo on every pen. Best for client gifts and events, where the pen represents the business.
- A different name on every pen. Best for staff gifts, awards and new joiners. Send us the list and we match each pen to its recipient.
- Logo on one side, name on the other. Personal to the recipient, and still clearly from you.
Logos need a little preparation to engrave cleanly, because engraving is a single tone with no colour or gradients. Our logo artwork guide explains what to send. We prepare the artwork for engraving and, for every business and logo order, send you a proof to approve before we engrave anything.
How a business order works
- Send a brief. Tell us the pen, the quantity, the wording or logo and when you need them. Use the form on our business orders page.
- Get a quote. The price is quoted on the job, based on the pens and the engraving you choose.
- Approve the proof. You see exactly how the engraving will look. Nothing is engraved until you are happy.
- We engrave in our London workshop. Every pen is engraved at 222 Kensal Road, London, by our small team using engraving machines and lasers, and each engraving is checked before it goes out.
- Delivery and invoice. We deliver to any UK address you give us, including separate addresses for different offices, and invoicing is available on request.
Planning around Christmas
The main thing that goes wrong with corporate gifts is time. Artwork and name lists take longer to gather internally than anyone expects, and proofs need someone to sign them off. A few suggestions:
- Start collecting names and your logo file early, ideally before the end of October.
- Decide who approves the proof, so it does not sit in an inbox.
- Tell us your deadline when you send the brief. We will confirm whether it works before you order, rather than guess.
For standard orders, anything placed before 3pm Monday to Friday is dispatched the same day, and UK delivery usually takes 2 to 4 working days after dispatch. Our guide to how long engraving takes explains how to work out a delivery date.
Presentation
A pen arrives ready to give when you add a gift box or pouch. For staff gifts handed out in person, boxed pens can be delivered together to one address. For client gifts, we can send pens to your office so you can add a card.
Smaller orders are welcome
You do not need a large budget to order as a business. We handle anything from ten pens to several hundred, and a small order gets the same proof and the same checks as a large one.
Next step
If you have a gift to plan, the quickest way to start is to send us a brief with your quantity, your logo or name list and your deadline. We reply personally, and you will see a proof before anything is engraved.
